LET THE GAINS BEGIN!

Whether it's for preparation for a show, to prepare a youngster for sale, to provide daily strength to your working horse or muscle building for improved performance our customers have already been enjoying the results they've seen with Hercules.

Support Muscle Growth from BCAAs (branched-chain amino acids): Just like in human nutrition, BCAAs are used for muscle building. Amino acids are the building blocks of protein, and protein is the building block for muscle.

Support Muscle Repair from Ready Assimilated Antioxidants: After exercise, muscle cells will be more or less damaged depending on the horse's ability to manage the free radicals induced by exercise. In order to protect muscle cells from this phenomenon, known as oxidative stress, and for enhanced recovery, horses have two kinds of anti-radical defence mechanisms: enzymatic and nutritional, through the antioxidant intake.

Muscle Support from Purpose Minerals: A blend of vitamins, trace minerals and antioxidants at optimal levels available to be absorbed as quickly and as effectively as possible via our readily assimilated liquid blend.

PROBLEM | SOLUTION
Generally, muscle builders are high in sugars & calories, typically due to a high molasses content to make the product palatable for your horse. Unfortunately, this means that horses who are sensitive to sugars (maybe horses with laminitis or those who simply don't need them) couldn't benefit from a muscle support.

With HERCULES it was really important for us to solve this problem. Muscle support doesn't need to be highly fizzy and highly fattening! HERCULES has zero added sugars, zero mollasses and yet, is still highly palatable! We are yet to find a horse that won't happily eat it.

"Think the product has definitely helped as this is only 1 month of use. She’s on the right track and looking forward to seeing the difference that the next bottle makes!" - Chesni Boulton

RECOMMENDED FEEDING RATE

Pony - approximately 250kg 20ml per day.
Horse - approximately 500kg 30ml per day.
Large Horse - approximately 750kg 40ml per day.

For best results, HERCULES should be fed as close to exercise as possible and can be syringe administered or added to feed.

Shake well before each use. Mix thoroughly with feed and split between meals where possible. Introduce to feed slowly. Do not exceed the recommended intake.

Complementary feeding stuff for horses, ponies and donkeys. Does not contravenewith the Rules of Racing, UK National Federation Rules of Competition, or FEI rules.

KEY INGREDIENTS

Methionine: Methionine is an essential amino acid required in your horse’s diet because it cannot be made in the body. Amino acids are the molecular building blocks of proteins. Proteins are the building blocks for muscles.

Every protein starts with the amino acid methionine. The first part of each gene tells the cell to start assembling the protein beginning with methionine..

Lysine: Lysine is typically considered the first rate-limiting amino acid in equine diets. It is the amino acid that is most commonly deficient to the point of limiting protein synthesis in the horse.

Roles:

  • Is converted to carnitine, a vitamin-like compound that supports key enzymes involved in breaking down fat for energy.
  • Has been seen to increase calcium levels in the body by increasing calcium absorption and minimizing calcium loss in urine.
  • Is involved in making collagen and elastin, important proteins found in high levels in the skin and connective tissue including tendons, ligaments and cartilage.
  • Lysine is a critical component of the muscle proteins actin and myosin that interact to facilitate muscle contraction.

Selenium: Selenium (Se) is an antioxidant mineral that is necessary for the horse’s diet. Horses derive selenium by consuming hay or grasses that grow in soils that contain this trace mineral. However, if you live in a region with low selenium levels in the soil, your horse’s forage may be deficient in this essential mineral.

Not getting enough selenium in the diet can contribute to a wide range of health problems for your equine companion. It can impair muscle function, heart health, immune function, growth and energy levels in your horse.

Vitamin E: Vitamin E (antioxidant) is a fat-soluble vitamin that acts as an important antioxidant for horses. It helps maintain a healthy immune system and supports normal nerve and muscle function. Horses need vitamin E in their diet because they cannot synthesize it endogenously in their body. Vitamin E deficiency in horses can cause them to be more likely to tie up after exercise. They might be sick with frequent coughs and colds and recover slowly.

Vitamin B12: Vitamin B12 (antioxidant), also known as Cobalamin is a water-soluble vitamin with important roles in the nervous system and liver. It is involved in energy metabolism and red blood cell formation. The horse needs cobalamin to ensure the normal production of red blood cells in bone marrow, to maintain a healthy reproductive system and to support the myelination of nerves.

Vitamin B12 is also involved in the metabolism of fats and amino acids for energy. This vitamin is said to improve physical stamina and stimulate appetite in horses.

Niacin: Vitamin B3 (antioxidant), also known as niacin, supports healthy digestion and skin. Proper digestive functions enable your horse to process nutrients from his feed, maximizing the energy he acquires so he can perform his best. Niacin is most well known for its ability to increase blood flow and improve circulation.

WHY IS HERCULES A LIQUID?

A liquid form is readily assimilated and therefore is quickly absorbed in the tissues of your horse’s mouth and throat. Powdered or pill forms must go through the entire equine digestive tract, breaking down the delicate molecules and taking far longer for any remaining available amino acids to reach the muscles.

Just like when a human works out, he/she should consume high-protein as quickly as possible post-workout if they intend to build muscle.

WILL THIS FIZZ MY HORSE?

No. Whilst a lot of muscle builders require some form of sugar-coating to make them palatable for the horses, HERCULES has no added sugars. And we're yet to find a horse or pony that won't eat HERCULES.

MY HORSE IS PRONE TO LAMINITIS, CAN HE USE IT SAFELY?

Whilst a lot of muscle builders require some form of sugar-coating to make them palatable for the horses, HERCULES has no added sugars making it suitable for laminitic equines.

LIQUID VS POWDERS

Based on clinical studies, not all the vitamins that you take are absorbed. It is the same for horses too, a lot of the vitamins we feed them end up going to your muck heap!

Liquid vitamins show an absorption rate of 98% while powders/capsules/solids can range from only 3 to 30%.

The National Advisory Board states that 100mg consumed in a solid form (tablet/capsule/powder) translates into a concentrate of only 8.3mg or 8.3% in the blood. Not only are liquids more efficiently absorbed, but they are also absorbed faster as they're readily assimilated. (PH Bennett, S Haffner, BL Kasiske, WF Keane, CE, National Advisory Board, - Am J Kidney Dis, 1995)

The Physician's Desk Reference states that 85-90% of nutrients in a liquid supplement are absorbed in 22-30 seconds.
Physician's Desk Reference (page 1542, #49)

You see, it's not just about 'what's in' your supplements, but it's how they're going to be used!
